Since 2008, UW-Milwaukee’s Eat Local :: Read Local has been celebrating the partnerships between local restaurants and poets from Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.
Each April we distribute printed poems to local restaurants, who then pass them out to diners throughout April, National Poetry Month. In this way, we work with local businesses to connect with more of the community through poetry, hopefully reaching some readers we otherwise wouldn’t.
Both Milwaukee and Madison have strong traditions surrounding poetry and dining– it only makes sense to join forces and celebrate our local artists!
We host two contributors’ readings in April each year. Stay tuned for more information about these readings!
