We print poems and flash prose of 14-16 lines (shorter lines, please, as they’ll need to fit within a 3” x 4.5” frame). We’re looking for work that reflects localness, what it means to be local. Did you write a poem while sitting at a bus stop on Lincoln & KK, or hiking at Devil’s Lake last spring, or eating cheese curds at Summerfest or custard by Lake Michigan or at a food truck on Library Mall? Maybe you got your ekphrasis on at the Milwaukee Art Museum or at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art? Do you write in one of the indigenous languages of Wisconsin? We want to see your local work!
If accepted, you will receive a set of cards featuring your poem or prose piece and the opportunity to read in both Madison and Milwaukee this April in celebration of the project.
The deadline for submissions is December 9, 2016. All submissions should be sent as a Word file (.doc or .docx) to firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief cover letter that describes your ties to Milwaukee/Madison in the body of the email.
