Dear Wisconsin-affiliated Writers:

UW-Milwaukee’s Eat Local :: Read Local is now looking for submissions by writers with connections to Wisconsin. Once selected, we distribute the printed poems to local restaurants in Milwaukee and Madison who then pass them out to diners throughout the month of April (National Poetry Month). Our aim is to work with local businesses to connect with more of the community through poetry, and hopefully reach some new readers.

 We’re looking for poems or micro-fiction, 14-16 lines (shorter lines, ideally, as they’ll need to fit on a card). The writing doesn’t need to be food-related—any and all themes are welcome, so long as they are appropriate for a very general, public audience. We’re also happy to publish reprints.

 Payment will be a set of cards featuring your poem or prose piece and the opportunity to read this coming April in both Madison and Milwaukee at a partner venue where your work is being featured.

The deadline for submissions is December 9, 2016. All submissions should be sent in a PDF or Word document to eatlocal.readlocal@gmail.com.
